Abstract:
The cosmic muon flux is produced during the high energy interactions between cosmic rays and nuclei from the atmosphere. Because of the relatively long lifetime and relativistic time dilatation, a large part of the muons reach ground level. Furthermore, muons interact only via the electroweak force, some high energy muons penetrating into the ground to reach depths of several hundreds of meters and more. This work is focused on estimating the depth of underground sites using the simulated and measured muon flux.
