History of the faculty
The year 1864 marks the beginning of higher education in physics in Bucharest, by decree of the reorganization of higher education, so the University founded Faculty of Science. In 1948 the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics emerges from the Faculty of Science.
1962 is the year when, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics is separated in Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics and Faculty of Physics . Starting with 1974 the last one moves into the new campus in Magurele, together with the the Central Institute of Physics forming the National Platform of Physics.
